Overview & Rules
The premise is simple: draft a group of 3-5 teams using $45 of your $50 buy-in, with better teams costing more than not-so-good teams, such that at the end of the regular season, your group of teams has more wins than every other players' teams. Yes, I said "teams" many times there, but it really is simple. Keep reading if you're still a little lost...

5 Tiers x 6 Teams Per Tier = All 30 NBA Teams
Every so often, ESPN, Bleacher Report & many others, will update what they call "Power Rankings". Essentially, it's just a straight ranking of all the NBA teams from best to worst. For example, upon writing this, ESPN's power rankings have the Denver Nuggets at 1st place and the Detroit Pistons at 30th (sorry coach Monty).

What we've done is we've broken up all 30 teams into 5 separate tiers (Teams 1-6 = Tier 1, Teams 7-12 = Tier 2, etc.) Each tier has a dollar value associated with it going down in increments of $3 from Tier 1 at $15 to Tier 5 at $3. You're job is to spend your $45 buy-in on any 3-5 teams that you think will rack up the most regular season wins.

To view how the teams are broken up, go to the following page: Tiers

Note: The 5 tiers will be locked in place at 12:00 AM on September 9th. This to prevent folks that wait till the last minute to select their teams from having an advantage in the event of a major player injury or trade.

Oh the Many Ways You Can Draft
In an effort to make everyone's life a little bit easier, we've broken down all of the different ways you can draft your squad and spend your full $45. E.g. you can draft 3 tier 1 teams @ $15 a piece. 3 x $15 = $45. You can draft 5 teams: Tier 1, 3, 3, 4, 4. $15 + $9 + $9 + $6 + $6 = $45. You get the gist.
There are 15 total grouping methods that'll all add up to $45. Follow this link here to see all of the different ways you can draft: Grouping Methods
Check the Scoreboard!
Throughout the regular season, you'll be able to check where your group of teams stands in relation to those within your group. You'll have not only a shiny leaderboard to view consistently, but we'll also have advanced analytics and fun stats for your nightly reading pleasure.

The commissioner's goal is to update standings daily, but when life gets in the way, the realistic goal will be 3-5 times a week. Any special, one-off or ad-hoc refresh updates will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

Last Year's Leaderboard
It's Pay Day $$$
At the end of the regular season, all participants' teams' regular season wins will be totaled up. Prize money will then be distributed to the top 3 finishers in each group.

Each group will have 10 or 12 participants. The payout structure for each sized group is:

10 Participants
-
1st Place: $315
-
2nd Place: $90
-
3rd Place: $45

12 Participants
-
1st Place: $405
-
2nd Place: $90
-
3rd Place: $45

* In the event of a tie, the tie will be broken by the participant whose teams have more divisional wins in the regular season. In the incredibly unlikely event that tie still is not broken, the winner will be decided by total points scored in the regular season.

Few Things to Keep in Mind
Here are a few things to keep in mind or minor rules that weren't mentioned above
-
You cannot draft the same team twice
-
E.g. You cannot draft Bucks, Bucks, Bucks with grouping method 1
-
-
Participants can (and most definitely will) draft the same team(s)
-
The likelihood of two participants having the exact same group of teams selected is virtually 0%, but participants will obviously have overlap in some of their selections.
-
E.g. the Suns, Celtics and Bucks will probably all be selected by multiple different participants.
-
-
-
Your buy in is due by the end of the regular season
-
The commissioner will reach out somewhat consistently to those who haven't paid their buy in by the start of the regular season
-
-
The commissioner reserves the right to tweak any rules or modify the set-up of the league as necessary
-
In the unlikely event this happens, the commissioner will reach out to everyone and make sure everyone is on the same page before the rule change is put into place
-
